This medication is used to treat vaginal yeast infections. Terconazole reduces vaginal burning, itching, and discharge that may occur with this condition. This medication is an azole antifungal. It works by stopping the growth of yeast (fungus) that causes the infection.
Headache, increased vaginal/urethral burning/itching/pain, or menstrual cramps may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. The following may be side effects. However, they may also be symptoms of a different or more serious condition (bacterial vaginosis or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease-PID) that may require different treatment. Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious effects occur: flu-like symptoms (including fever/chills), foul-smelling discharge from the vagina, stomach/abdominal pain. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
