This medication is used to treat high blood pressure. Indapamide is also used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by heart failure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Indapamide belongs to a class of drugs known as diuretics/ water pills. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
