Skin redness, dryness, scaling, itching, or mild stinging/burning commonly occur, especially during the first 4 weeks of using this medication. These effects usually lessen with continued use. Apply moisturizer on your skin as often as needed to lessen side effects. If any of these effects lasts or gets worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Your doctor may direct you to use trifarotene less often, or temporarily or permanently stop using it. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: very red/irritated skin, eye redness and watering (conjunctivitis), eyelid swelling, skin discoloration. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
